Our Take
Unboxing the Ground Cube, we had the cube of course, a very cleverly designed ground cable with multiple attachments, and a compass (!). We attached the power plug to one end of the ground cable, and plugged that into our power conditioner. Holger advised us to orient the Ground Cube so that the binding post on the cube faced north or south, hence the included compass.
Once connected and oriented, it took about a minute to start hearing what was happening. First, more low level detail emerged, a sign on a lower noise floor. Specifically musical layers were more distinct, individual instruments playing together in harmony were more naturally layered and separate, creating a more convincing and enjoyable musical event. The same for vocals as well. Next, very low level information came forward through the background. Super subtle movements of musicians, air around instruments, and recording space size cues all were clearer and more solidly rendered. This was a level of detail the reference system had not achieved before. It kept us listening late into the evening. Pulling out familiar recordings and being flabbergasted at what we had missed when the Ground Cube was not in the system. Last, all remained balanced, tonally accurate, and naturally musical in the ebb and flow of energy.
This is the result when placed in a system that was already really tweaked out. QSA, Bybee, and plenty of other SteinMusic products were already in the system. We highly recommend trying the Ground Cube, no matter what level of tweakage or accessorizing your system and room are already at.
The Ground Cube
The Ground Cube Signature is a Unique type of grounding element from Steinmusic.
Unlike the classic grounding method, where interference is dissipated into the house ground, which is usually already burdened with high interference potential, such a connection is not used with the Ground Cube.
The Ground Cube reduces airborne and component borne interference in the sound image, revealing a wealth of new musical information. This is not achieved by emphasizing individual aspects of the sound, but by providing a richer overall sound with more coherent layers of information. Even pieces that you thought you knew well will now sound much more complex. You may experience them in a completely new way.
The Ground Cube Signature has a gold-plated connection terminal which can hold spade lugs and banana plugs.
Using a high-quality cable is essential for optimal sound quality, so Steinmusic has provided a Swiss made 1.2-metre cotton-braided cable with 61 individually insulated wires, terminated with a gold-plated beryllium copper hollow banana plug and included it with the Ground Cube. One end of the cable connects to the Ground Cube Signature terminal, while the other connects to the ground of your power distributor through one of the various included terminations. Those include clamps and a power plug with a banana socket.
Signature Vs. Silver Signature
The Ground Cube Signature opens up and separates many more layers of detail while retaining liquidity and cohesiveness.
The Ground Cube Silver Signature offers all the advantages of the Signature version but goes deeper and offeres up more. The use of a silver matrix internally enables an even more open and multi-layered presentation of the music.
