Why A Fancy Power Supply?
A high quality power supply is fundamental to to maximizing the performance of any audio component. Garbage In = Garbage Out is the old saying in the data and computing industry, and it applies to audio as well. After all what is the audio signal? When it comes down to it the sine wave generated by the output of an audio component is the direct result of modulating the incoming power. So the power supply MUST deliver a robust, stable and quiet source of power. A blank canvas if you will.
Why Farad?
Farad makes only power supplies. All of their energy and resources are poured into creating the quietest, most stable, musically engaging power supplies on the market.
To this end they have researched and developed a new principle for ultra-low noise wide bandwidth power supplies based on the use of super capacitors. This unique approach, used in all Farad power supplies, allows you to experience what your audio system is capable of. Each power supply is designed and hand built in the Netherlands.
The Options: Amperage
Since each power supply is made to order, you have several options to choose from when designing your own power supply. Aside from the obvious DC voltage output, you have the choice of 3 amp, 6 amp or 10 amps of current providing the drive behind the voltage.
The Upgrades
And what audiophile level component would be complete if it didn't have a host of upgrade options available to it.
The Super 3 is offered with a replaceable fuse internally. You can opt to add a QSA fuse to the power supply to really lower the noise floor further, and up the naturalness factor in it's presentation.
The Super 6 and Super 10 use magnetic circuit breakers, which Farad likes better than the fuses for these particular models, so no fuse option with these.
DC Cable Choices
Aside from the length of the DC cables, which range from 50 cm to 100 cm, you also have the choice of conductor materials, and what they call "Levels"
