Used High Fidelity Cables Professional Series AES/EBU digital cable. Three 15-inch nonmagnetic stainless steel tubes housing magnetic conductor waveguides — the technology that defined HFC's sound. This was the top of the HFC line. 8/10 condition with cosmetic scratches. No box or manual. Estimated original retail approximately $15,000.

High Fidelity Cables Professional Series AES/EBU Digital Cable

The Professional Series was the pinnacle of the High Fidelity Cables lineup when Rick Schultz was still building them. Three 15-inch nonmagnetic stainless steel tubes, each housing magnetic conductor waveguides. That waveguide technology was the foundation of everything HFC built — the idea that magnetic fields can be used to guide and condition an audio signal rather than simply transmit it. Whether you accept the theory or not, the cables had a sound. A very particular, very recognizable sound.

8/10 condition with some cosmetic scratches from normal use. No box or manual. Non-smoking environment.

The Technology

Inside each of the three stainless tubes are magnetic waveguides — Schultz's patented approach to signal transmission. The nonmagnetic tube provides physical structure and shielding while the internal waveguides do the work. The Professional Series used more waveguides and more elaborate construction than the lower tiers, which is reflected in what was a retail price in the neighborhood of $15,000.

Press Recognition

High Fidelity Cables received coverage from Positive Feedback, 6moons, and AudioStream during their peak years. The magnetic waveguide technology attracted considerable attention — some enthusiastic, some skeptical — but the cables built a devoted following among listeners who heard them in resolving systems.
