The Audience AdeptResponse aR6 brings the full AdeptResponse platform to a six-outlet chassis — low-impedance power delivery, wide-bandwidth noise filtering, partial power factor correction, no MOV devices, magnetic circuit breaker, and per-outlet double filtering. The same architecture as the acclaimed aR12, sized for smaller systems, secondary setups, or dedicated source conditioning. TAS Editor's Choice 2015–2023. Available in four configurations: aR6, aR6-OX, aR6-T3, and aR6-T4.

Audience AdeptResponse aR6 Power Conditioners

The Full AdeptResponse Platform — In Six Outlets

The aR6 is the aR12's six-outlet sibling — identical in design philosophy, identical in fundamental architecture, and available in the same four-tier model progression. Where the aR12 is built for complete system power conditioning in a single chassis, the aR6 serves systems where six outlets is sufficient, where a second conditioner is needed to isolate digital from analog, or where a more compact footprint is a practical requirement.

Everything that distinguishes the AdeptResponse from conventional power conditioners applies equally to the aR6: the low-impedance power path that preserves dynamics rather than compromising them, the wide-bandwidth noise filtering, the partial power factor correction, the non-wearing transient suppression, the magnetic circuit breaker, and the per-outlet double filtering that prevents component-to-component noise contamination. The result is the same as the aR12 — cleaner, quieter, more dynamic performance from every component connected to it — in a chassis sized for systems that don't require twelve outlets.

Garrett Hongo at SoundStage! Ultra called the aR6-T4 an utter revelation. Dr. Matthew Clott at Enjoy the Music put it more directly: to not consider and audition a T4 Adept Response when looking for a reference conditioner would be foolish — buy with confidence and sigh with enjoyment at the results.

Why Six Outlets — and Who It's For

The aR6 is the right choice in several scenarios:

Smaller systems with fewer components. A source, preamp, and amplifier — possibly with a phono stage and a streamer — can be accommodated comfortably in six outlets without running short. For systems of this scale, the aR6 provides the full AdeptResponse platform without over-specifying.

Dedicated source conditioning alongside a separate amplifier conditioner. Many audiophiles prefer to separate digital and analog components onto different conditioners — keeping the switching noise from DACs and streamers fully isolated from the analog signal chain. Two aR6 units can accomplish this elegantly, with each providing its own individual and double-filtered outlets.

Secondary systems. A dedicated listening room, a desktop system, or a headphone-focused secondary setup benefits from the same AdeptResponse technology as a main system, scaled to its actual outlet requirements.

Source-only conditioning. In systems where the power amplifier is plugged directly to the wall, the aR6 provides everything needed to condition the remaining components — streamer, DAC, preamp, and phono stage — without the additional outlets that would go unused.

What Makes the AdeptResponse Different

The aR6 shares every design principle of the aR12 — only the outlet count and chassis size differ.

Low-impedance power path. The aR6 maintains a low-impedance path between the wall and your components at all times. Conventional conditioners introduce series resistance and inductance that limit instantaneous current delivery — audibly compressing dynamics, particularly at high power demands. The aR6 does not. Power amplifiers plugged into the aR6 display increased dynamics and perform as if they were more powerful.

Wide-bandwidth noise reduction without series impedance. Filtering is achieved through Audience's proprietary architecture that addresses noise across a wide frequency bandwidth without adding significant series resistance to the power path.

Partial power factor correction. By restoring a more favorable phase relationship between AC voltage and current, the aR6 improves the efficiency of power transfer to your components — contributing to more natural dynamics and a more relaxed, uncompressed presentation.

No MOV devices. Metal Oxide Varistors degrade over time, progressively introducing distortion into the AC supply. The aR6 uses non-wearing high-voltage transient suppression that protects equipment permanently without the progressive performance degradation of MOV-based designs.

Magnetic circuit breaker. Unlike thermal breakers, which increase in resistance as power demand rises — restricting current precisely when it's most needed — the aR6's magnetic breaker maintains consistent impedance regardless of load.

Individual and double outlet filtering. Each of the 6 outlets is individually filtered. Every outlet is additionally double-filtered from every other outlet, preventing noise generated by one component from reaching the power supply of another. Digital and analog components can share the same conditioner without contaminating each other.

The aR6 Model Range

The aR6 is available in four configurations that mirror the aR12's progressive upgrade path exactly. All share the fundamental architecture, magnetic circuit breaker, per-outlet double filtering, and cryogenic treatment.

aR6 — The foundation model. Auricap XO+ polypropylene film capacitors, standard filter topology, OFC internal power wiring, Hospital Grade Hubbell outlets.

aR6-OX — Upgrades the aR6 with Au24 SX OCC internal power wiring and Hidden Treasure premium duplex outlets. Same Auricap XO+ capacitors and standard filter topology.

aR6-T3 — Steps up to Aura-TR Teflon capacitors, which offer superior dielectric properties compared to polypropylene film. Standard filter topology, OFC internal wiring. A meaningful advancement in resolution and tonal purity over the aR6.

aR6-T4 — The flagship. Aura-TR Teflon capacitors combined with Audience's advanced S-Filter topology, Au24 SX OCC internal power wiring, Hidden Treasure premium duplex outlets, and the Ultra High Voltage Process applied after assembly. The T4 is the reference model — and the one that earned an utter revelation from Garrett Hongo.

Note: the aR6 does not include an incoming voltage display — this feature is found on the aR12 line. All other technical and sonic characteristics are shared across both chassis sizes.

What to Expect

The aR6's improvements are consistent with what the AdeptResponse platform delivers throughout: a lower noise floor that allows low-level detail to emerge with greater clarity, more stable and three-dimensional imaging, improved harmonic resolution, and dynamics that are genuinely unconstrained rather than politely compressed.

Dr. Bump at Enjoy the Music described the aR6-T4 as lifting the lid on dynamic prowess and presence — full-frequency improvements delivered with clarity and imaging that had previously been unheard in his system. Marshall Nack's observation about the aR12-T4 applies equally to the aR6-T4: it doesn't shift frequency response or change the character of what's already there. It completes it.

Included powerChord — and Upgrade Options

Every aR6 ships with a 1.75m forte f5 powerChord. For those who want to maximize performance at the conditioner's inlet:

  • Studio ONE powerChord (10 AWG, 6 ft.) — add $2,400
  • Au24 SX powerChord (10 AWG, 6 ft.) — add $4,660
  • frontRow powerChord (10 AWG, 6 ft.) — add $6,300

The powerChord feeding the conditioner is the first link in the chain for every component it powers — upgrading it has a proportionally large effect on all connected components simultaneously.
