Grand Activation Extreme HGA-6000 Power Cord

The power cord is the last link between the wall and every component's power supply, and the HGA-6000 is Grand Activation's reference answer to it. Stereo Times publisher Clement Perry received three for review, then bought three more for his reference system.

The Design

Grand Activation (GA) is a Bristol, England company that introduced its Metal Molecular Activation Technology (MMAT) in 2021 and applies it to every product it makes. GA says MMAT increases the number of electrons flowing per second through each conductor, improving dynamic range and lowering background noise. GA's case rests on listening, and so does ours. QSA, whose treatments we carry throughout our catalog, acknowledges that it treats Grand Activation's cables as well.

The HGA-6000 pairs that process with high-purity oxygen-free copper conductors and Teflon outerwear, and it comes with Furutech rhodium-plated plug and IEC connectors.

How It Sounds

Perry heard an immediate sense of quiet and a smoother top end, which let him play at volumes he normally considered loud, with dynamics and effervescence he compared to his NanoFlo cords. On a 1967 recording he heard space, harmonic integrity, neutrality, and tonal density that the recording's age doesn't suggest. After living with it for more than a month, he ranked its performance above many costlier products he has heard.

Plan for burn-in. Perry gave his first set 100 hours, and his second set another 150, before they reached their best.

Where It Fits
