Audience frontRow Reserve powerChord
The Ceiling of AC Performance — Audience's Finest Power Cord
If you've lived with the frontRow powerChord and heard what it does to your system's noise floor, dynamics, and tonal color, you already understand the argument for taking AC performance seriously. The frontRow Reserve powerChord takes that argument to its logical conclusion.
This is Audience's absolute best power cord — built on the proven frontRow MORRE platform and elevated with every advancement Audience has developed for the Reserve line: shielded silver conductors joining the primary OCC copper geometry, a natural crystalline mineral compound for EMI/RFI damping, dedicated EMI/RFI sleeving, and a more extensive grounding and shielding scheme than the standard frontRow. The result is a dramatically lower noise floor, greater resolution across the frequency range, and a more immediate, more fleshed-out, and more musically engaging presentation from every component it powers.
As Enjoy the Music's Rick Becker wrote after a full review: the frontRow Reserve powerChords took him to a very privileged level in the reproduction of recorded music. That's the only target Audience was aiming for when they built this.
What the Reserve Adds Over the frontRow
The frontRow powerChord is already exceptional. Moving to the Reserve isn't about fixing something that's broken — it's about removing the last remaining layers of constraint that even the frontRow leaves in place.
Silver conductors added to the copper geometry. As with the Reserve interconnects and speaker cables, a carefully judged addition of shielded silver conductors joins the primary six-nines OCC copper geometry. Silver contributes speed and upper-frequency illumination without displacing the tonal weight and midrange authority that copper provides. The combination is more complete than either alone.
Natural crystalline mineral compound for EMI/RFI damping. The Reserve powerChord incorporates the same advanced formulation of natural crystals used throughout the Reserve line — engineered specifically to absorb and dissipate electromagnetic and radio frequency interference rather than simply shunting it to ground. This works in concert with dedicated EMI/RFI sleeving for a more comprehensive approach to noise rejection than the standard frontRow's OFC copper shield alone.
More extensive grounding and shielding scheme. The Reserve powerChord's grounding architecture goes beyond the standard frontRow's design, providing a more thorough and effective path for noise to leave the signal conductors. In practice, this translates to a blacker background, more stable imaging, and a quieter foundation from which the music can emerge.
All of this sits atop the full MORRE foundation: six-nines OHNO Continuous Cast Copper conductors, virgin XLPE dielectric, frontRow geometry minimizing magnetic inductance between hot, neutral, and ground conductors, MORRE Deep Cryo II and EHVP post-production, and a three to four day factory burn-in.
What It Sounds Like
The Reserve powerChord's character is consistent with what the Reserve line delivers throughout: more illumination from the lower midrange upward, greater resolution of fine detail, more fleshed-out and three-dimensional presentation of instruments and voices, and a lower noise floor that allows the music to breathe more freely.
On a power amplifier, the improvements in dynamic authority and bass control are immediately audible — the reserve of current that an amplifier can draw from a cleaner, lower-impedance AC connection translates directly into greater dynamic range and tighter, more articulate bass. On source components and preamplifiers, the effect is subtler but equally significant: a quieter background, more stable imaging, and a sense that the component is working less hard to resolve the signal it's processing.
Listeners who build a complete Reserve loom — interconnects, speaker cables, and powerChords — consistently report that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. The Reserve powerChord is the final piece that completes that picture.
