The Audience Studio ONE powerChord HP brings the Studio ONE EHVP platform to power amplifiers and high-current components. Audience's Extreme High Voltage Process — approximately 800,000 volts applied post-assembly — delivers improved dynamics, tonal purity, and bass authority that stock and budget power cords can't approach. NOVO Magazine called it a dramatic improvement most cords in this price range can only dream of. TAS Editor's Choice 2023. Directional, low-mass construction.

Audience Studio ONE powerChord HP

The Studio ONE Platform — Built for Amplifiers and High-Current Components

The Studio ONE powerChord HP is the high-power variant of Audience's Studio ONE power cord — engineered specifically for power amplifiers, integrated amplifiers, and any component that demands instantaneous, unrestricted current delivery. Where the LP is optimized for the quiet, low-noise AC environment that source components need, the HP is built to handle the current demands that amplifiers place on the mains without flinching.

The distinction matters. An amplifier's dynamic performance is directly tied to its ability to draw current on demand — particularly during loud, complex passages where multiple instruments attack simultaneously. A power cord that restricts current flow, even subtly, compresses those dynamics, softens transient attacks, and blurs the bass articulation that gives music its physical presence. The HP eliminates that restriction while bringing the full Studio ONE platform — premium geometry, high-quality materials, EHVP treatment, and low-mass directional construction — to the most current-hungry component in your system.

As NOVO Magazine's Doug Brown put it after a full review: the Studio ONE HP powerChord offers deeper resolution, larger soundstaging, more precise image placement, and an extremely dynamic sound. Most power cables in this price range can only dream of making such a dramatic improvement to a system's overall sound quality.

The Studio ONE Difference

The Studio ONE powerChord HP shares the same defining characteristics as the LP — the same platform, the same philosophy — scaled for high-current delivery.

EHVP — Extreme High Voltage Process. As with every Studio ONE cable, the HP receives Audience's proprietary high-voltage conditioning process, in which voltages approaching 800,000 volts are driven through the finished cord after assembly. The conditioning this achieves is dramatically more thorough than conventional break-in — resulting in improved dynamics, greater coherence, superior tonal purity, and a smoothness that becomes immediately apparent when the cord is installed on an amplifier.

For an amplifier, the dynamic benefits of EHVP are particularly audible. The improved coherence and reduced distortion translate directly into tighter, more articulate bass, faster transient attack, and a greater sense of authority and ease at all volume levels.

Premium geometry and high-quality materials. The HP's conductor geometry and dielectric materials are selected for high-current audio applications — providing a highly conductive, low-impedance path for the large and variable current flows that amplifiers demand. The geometry minimizes reactive interference between conductors while ensuring the cord never becomes a bottleneck for instantaneous current delivery.

Low-mass design. Even in its high-power configuration, the Studio ONE HP maintains Audience's commitment to avoiding excess mass. Heavy jacketing and oversized connectors absorb transient energy and dull the very dynamics that a well-designed amplifier power cord should be unlocking.

Directional construction. The gold arrow indicates correct signal flow direction — the same attention to directionality that Audience applies throughout the Studio ONE line.

LP or HP — Choosing the Right One

The decision is straightforward and based on what the component requires, not on sonic preference:

Studio ONE HP (this cable): Power amplifiers, integrated amplifiers, Class A amplifiers, and any component whose power supply draws high or variable current. If you're unsure, check your component's rated power consumption — anything above approximately 200 watts at the wall points to the HP.

Studio ONE LP: DACs, streamers, CD/SACD players, preamplifiers, phono stages, power conditioners, and any low-current component.

Both bring the same Studio ONE platform and EHVP treatment. The difference is purely in the geometry and conductor sizing — optimized for the load each version is designed to serve.

Where It Sits in the Lineup

The Studio ONE HP occupies an important and practical position in the Audience power cord range. It is a genuine step above the forte f5 — benefiting from EHVP treatment and a higher level of engineering — while sitting below the frontRow powerChords where the full MORRE platform takes over.

For a system running Studio ONE interconnects and speaker cables, the Studio ONE HP on the amplifier completes a coherent Studio ONE loom. For a system running frontRow or Au24 SX signal cables with a lesser power cord, it represents a high-value upgrade that makes itself heard immediately in the qualities that matter most from an amplifier: dynamic authority, bass control, and transient speed.
