Hapa Audio Aero Cu USB Cable

USB audio puts power and data in the same cable, which makes it one of the noisier digital connections in a system. The Aero Cu USB applies Hapa Audio's aerogel platform to that link, with nano-polished UPOCC copper conductors and an eight-wire, noise-canceling geometry.

The Design

Hapa Audio is a small cable maker in Aurora, Colorado, founded by Jason Wong in 2020, and every cable is built by hand. Hapa's Aero, Haiku, and Torsion cables suspend the conductor in aerogel, a silica material that Hapa describes as 99.8% air, in place of conventional plastic insulation. Hapa says it pioneered aerogel dielectrics in cables and polishes each conductor by hand before it goes in. UPOCC stands for ultra-pure Ohno continuous cast copper.

In the USB cable, Hapa adapts the eight-wire, noise-canceling geometry from its Ember USB to the aerogel construction.

How It Sounds

Owners in AudioCircle's Hapa Audio circle compared the Aero USB against other USB cables, and several described it as opening up the sound and connecting them more closely with the music. One found a $380 cable a close second, and still preferred the Aero. We'll add our own listening notes as we gather them.
