LUMIN N1 Audiophile Network Switch
LUMIN N1 Audiophile Network Switch
Every streamer depends on the network that feeds it, and the typical home network is full of electrical noise from routers, computers, and cheap switches. The N1 gives your hi-fi its own clean foundation: a ten-port switch with optical fibre ports that isolate your audio components completely, powered by a linear supply and ready to lock to a master clock.
A quiet network is the first upgrade every streamer deserves.
The Design
Four SFP ports carry data over optical fibre, which conducts light instead of electricity, so your streamer, transport, or library is galvanically isolated from noise on the rest of the network. Six RJ45 ports connect everything else, from your router to a NAS, so all your gear shares one high-quality hub.
Power comes from an internal toroidal linear supply derived from LUMIN's U2 and T3X, housed in its own shielded compartment, instead of the noisy external adapters most switches use. A 10MHz BNC clock input lets the N1 synchronise to a LUMIN U2X or a master clock for system-wide timing coherence. A dedicated switch turns off every LED, and setup takes no configuration at all.
Two SFP modules, an optical network cable, and an Ethernet cable come in the box, so you can start using fibre right away.
How It Sounds
We run an N1 in our own system, and it rewards patience: after a long break-in period, it opened up wonderfully. The sound became quiet and transparent, giving us everything in the recording in a way that made listening a genuine pleasure. Give yours the same time to settle in.
Reviewers describe the same benefits: Hi-Fi Class's Marek Dyba heard a fuller, truer, and more natural presentation and kept the N1 in his reference system. High Fidelity's Wojciech Pacuła found it added refinement and polish to dynamics, timbre, and stereo imaging. LowBeats heard a clear gain in calm and transparency.
Where It Fits
The N1 suits any networked audio system, LUMIN or otherwise, and is especially powerful with LUMIN players and transports that accept fibre, like the X2, S2, T3X, P2, U2, and U2X. Pair it with the U2X's clock outputs, or with a 10MHz master clock such as the Matrix Audio SC-1, for a fully clocked digital front end. If you also want to store your own music, the L2 combines a library with a 4-port switch.
Press Recognition
- Hi-Fi Class (October 2026), Marek Dyba, 5 stars and Recommended. Dyba heard a coherent, fluid, exceptionally natural presentation and added the N1 to his reference system permanently. Read the review at Hi-Fi Class (Polish)
- High Fidelity (August 2026), Wojciech Pacuła. Pacuła found the N1 noticeably changes the sound, bringing class and calm to file playback. Read the review at High Fidelity
- LowBeats (July 2026), 4.5 stars, Outstanding. LowBeats called it absolutely worth its price and a no-brainer, and not just for LUMIN fans. Read the review at LowBeats (German)
