Innuos Pulsar
Innuos Pulsar
The Pulsar was the top of the Pulse Series — Innuos's dedicated streaming platform for listeners who want audiophile-grade network playback without onboard storage. Streaming-only, done properly. This unit is 9/10 condition, purchased from an authorized dealer, and now available at a significant discount from retail.
The Power Supply
Innuos treats the power supply as the foundation of everything else, and the Pulsar reflects that. A 300VA toroidal transformer feeds the co-designed ARC6 linear supply, which uses active MOSFET rectification instead of conventional diodes. Behind that sits 132,000uF of Mundorf capacitors. Three independent regulated rails isolate the mainboard, the output module, and the SSD from each other. The result is that digital noise from one section simply cannot reach another — not filtered, genuinely isolated.
The Platform
The custom quad-core mainboard was built specifically for Innuos, with EMI sources systematically removed and clock speeds, memory access patterns, and latency all tuned for audio. The OS runs on an SLC SSD — lower noise and more durable than the TLC flash used in most computing applications. These are the kinds of decisions that don't show up in a spec sheet but accumulate into a presentation that sounds different from computers running music playback software.
Connectivity
Four USB 3.0 outputs on the base unit, with the PhoenixUSB Lite reclocked output included on this unit. Add-on boards for I2S via HDMI or SPDIF coaxial/optical/AES are available separately. Operates in Standalone mode via the Innuos Sense app — Qobuz, TIDAL, Deezer, internet radio, NAS libraries — or as a Roon, HQ Player, or Innuos server Endpoint.
Press Recognition
The Innuos Pulsar was reviewed by Hi-Fi+, Hifi News, and AudioStream. Hi-Fi+'s Jason Kennedy called it a major step forward in the Pulse line and among the finest dedicated streaming platforms at its price point. Measurements and listening evaluations consistently confirmed the power supply engineering translates directly to audible improvement.
