Hapa Aero Cu Coax/BNC
The Aero Cu Coax applies Hapa Audio's aerogel dielectric to S/PDIF coaxial digital audio: a nano-polished UPOCC copper conductor, 75-ohm impedance, and BNC terminations.

The Design
Hapa Audio is a small cable maker in Aurora, Colorado, founded by Jason Wong in 2020, and every cable is built by hand. Hapa's Aero, Haiku, and Torsion cables suspend the conductor in aerogel, a silica material that Hapa describes as 99.8% air, in place of conventional plastic insulation. Hapa says it pioneered aerogel dielectrics in cables and polishes each conductor by hand before it goes in. UPOCC stands for ultra-pure Ohno continuous cast copper.
S/PDIF is a 75-ohm interface, and BNC is a true 75-ohm connector, so it keeps the cable's impedance consistent through the connection. Many source components with BNC outputs were designed with that in mind.
How It Sounds
A What's Best Forum member comparing digital cables found the Aero Cu coax, in an RCA-terminated version, smooth and full with engaging mids and highs, and bought it after about two weeks. We'll add our own listening notes for the BNC version as we gather them.
Where It Fits
Use it between a transport, streamer, or digital converter and a DAC with BNC connections. The Aero AG Digital is the silver version. Tweek Geek offers in-home auditions nationwide.
