SteinMusic Acoustic Discs
Reflections in your room blur what your speakers do well, and the Acoustic Discs target them directly. They're compact, passive elements that go on walls, ceilings, windows, or furniture with adhesive pads, and SteinMusic says they let music fill the room more freely, with clearly localized voices and instruments and a more tranquil sound. Positive Feedback gave them a Writers' Choice Award for 2025.
Small discs, with a big effect on the room.
The Design
SteinMusic describes the Acoustic Discs as compact, passive acoustic elements whose material structure and geometry subtly influence sound waves, improving the balance between direct sound and room reflection. SteinMusic says you hear more clearly localized instruments and voices, greater depth of field, and music that seems to detach itself from the loudspeakers. Each disc is 54 mm across and 9 mm high, so it's barely noticeable in a living space. They come in black or white, and you can paint them to match your wall.
SteinMusic takes a different approach from large absorbers: instead of absorbing sound over a big area, the discs aim at disruptive reflections. Positive Feedback described their effect as comparable to far larger wall panels.
Where the Discs Go
SteinMusic says each position emphasizes a different aspect of the sound.
- Side walls, about 30 to 40 cm below the ceiling: the stage becomes more open and spacious.
- Behind the loudspeakers: clearer depth layering and a more accurate rendering of the height planes.
- Ceiling, centered between the speakers and the listening position: the sound image opens further and the reproduction becomes more transparent.
- To the side of the speakers at ear level: the image becomes wider.
- Spread symmetrically through the room: a coherent, balanced sound, especially in larger rooms.
Installation
No drilling or structural changes are involved. The discs attach with adhesive pads in two thicknesses, 6 mm and 20 mm. SteinMusic also says they suit listening studios and demonstration rooms. Instructions are available as a PDF in German and English.
Where It Fits
Choose the Acoustic Discs as an easy, low-commitment first step in room acoustics, or to complement the rest of SteinMusic's system. They work alongside the Super and Ultra Acoustic Discs, the H2 Neo, and the Suns and Diamonds, and SteinMusic says the Super Acoustic Discs suit larger wall surfaces. Existing discs stay in place when you add others. You can buy a single disc or a set of three, in black or white. We're happy to help you plan the positions.
Press Recognition
- Positive Feedback Writers' Choice Award 2025. SteinMusic shows the magazine calling the discs magical in their effectiveness, the best of their breed, and as effective as much larger wall treatments.
- Positive Feedback, Robert H. Levi (October 2025), reviewing the Acoustic Discs and giving them his highest recommendation. Read the review at Positive Feedback
- Stereophile, Alex Halberstadt, cited by SteinMusic for the Acoustic Discs.
- SteinMusic's store shows four customer reviews, all five stars. One customer fitted the discs alongside Suns in a ceiling installation and found the effect more than noticeable. These are owner impressions rather than professional reviews. See them on the SteinMusic store
