SteinMusic Inline Speaker Signature
SteinMusic Inline Speaker Signature
Your speaker cable carries the whole musical signal, and SteinMusic believes the current flowing through it can leave its own interference behind. The Inline Speaker Signature is SteinMusic's EMF field effect interrupter for the speaker cable, designed to minimize induced interference in the speaker signal. It's built on a matrix of fine gold or silver in a wood housing.
Clean up the field, and the signal follows.
The Design
SteinMusic explains the idea this way. Every conductor carrying current creates a field, and that field can induce back into the conductor, causing disturbances in an upper frequency range. We hear these as high-frequency distortions that affect the spatial image. To picture the field lines and their vectors, SteinMusic uses the left-hand rule: close your left hand around the conductor with your thumb pointing in the direction of the current, and your fingers show the direction of the field.
Inside an InLine element, the conductor is deliberately twisted, a matrix of the purest copper, silver, or gold in which the field directions are completely disordered. This creates a chaotic variety of field lines, and SteinMusic says the sum of those directions and strengths at the end of the element goes toward zero according to classical physics. That is how, in SteinMusic's account, existing field-effect disturbances dissolve and the signal is cleaned up.
Silver or Gold
Because InLine elements connect into the signal path, the material you choose changes the sound. SteinMusic says silver and gold each have different tonal characteristics, that neither is better or worse, and that the choice has to suit your complete hi-fi chain. In our own listening, silver gives extended highs and more transient attack, while gold gives softer highs and a richer, fuller midrange. We're happy to help you decide which fits your system.
Where It Fits
The Inline Speaker Signature goes into your speaker cable, which makes it a simple, reversible way to try SteinMusic's InLine approach. The same principle applies to SteinMusic's InLine elements for RCA and XLR signal paths and to the mains lead, where SteinMusic offers its own InLine versions. Choose one pair for the positive binding post of each speaker, or two pairs for both the positive and negative posts.
Press Recognition
Reviews of the Inline Speaker Signature are on the way. SteinMusic's InLine technology is also used in products that have drawn press coverage, including the Highline Bobby S, which Positive Feedback's Bob Levi reviewed. Read the review at Positive Feedback
