IsoAcoustics GAIA Neo Carpet Discs
IsoAcoustics GAIA Neo Carpet Discs
GAIA Neo does its best work on a firm surface. Thick carpet and a plush pad give the lower isolator a soft, shifting base, and the speaker starts to drift off its aim. Carpet Discs settle that. Spikes on the underside reach down through the pile to the floor, and the GAIA Neo sits on a flat, solid steel platform sized to its footprint.
Soft carpet, solid footing.
How They Work
Each disc is machined from solid stainless steel. Underneath, 15 mm (0.6 in) spikes press through the carpet and pad to anchor on the subfloor. On top, a flat surface gives the GAIA Neo's lower isolator full, even contact. The isolator keeps doing its job, and the floor gets a firm say in where the speaker stands, so it holds its position and its aim at your listening seat.
Choosing the Right Size
Match the discs to your GAIA Neo model. Each set of four covers one speaker.
- GAIA I Neo Carpet Discs: for GAIA I Neo, speakers up to 220 lb (100 kg).
- GAIA II Neo Carpet Discs: for GAIA II Neo, speakers up to 120 lb (55 kg).
- GAIA III Neo Carpet Discs: for GAIA III Neo, speakers up to 70 lb (32 kg).
Installation
Carpet Discs go in last. Install your GAIA Neo isolators, put the speaker in its final position, and level it. Then tilt one side up, slide a disc under each foot, and lower it back down. Repeat on the other side. A second pass may be needed to get each disc sitting flat and centered under its isolator. On heavy speakers, the GAIA F1 Speaker Jack makes this a one-person job.
Where They Fit
Carpet Discs belong in any room with thick pile, plush, or padded carpet. On hardwood, tile, concrete, or thin low-pile carpet, GAIA Neo grips the surface directly and the discs can stay in the box. Speakers on rugs over hard floors usually sit happiest with discs too, since the rug adds a soft layer.
Press Recognition
Accessories rarely get reviews of their own. This one earns its credit as part of the GAIA Neo system, which has drawn praise from The Absolute Sound, Hi-Fi+, SoundStage! Ultra, StereoNet, Audiophilia, and Positive Feedback, and builds on a GAIA family named Stereophile's Accessory of the Year and an EISA Best Product. The full list of reviews lives on our IsoAcoustics GAIA Neo page.
Our own experience with GAIA under Bowers and Wilkins, Sonus faber, and Acoustic Energy speakers is simple: the details of the install decide how much of that improvement you hear. Accessories like this one are how you get every bit of it.
