LUMIN T3X Network Music Player

Great streaming sound used to mean spending flagship money. The T3X changes that math. LUMIN took the award-winning T3 and gave it two upgrades from its top players: a toroidal linear power supply and optical fibre networking. The result is one of the most complete, best-sounding streamers you can buy anywhere near its price.

Flagship technology, in the player most people should buy.

The Design

Two ESS ES9028PRO DACs run in dual mono, one for each channel, feeding a fully balanced analog stage with a redesigned output buffer that borrows from the X1 flagship. A dedicated clock system keeps timing precise, and the circuit is optimised throughout for low noise and wide dynamic range.

The T3X is the first LUMIN T-series player with a built-in linear power supply. An extra-large toroidal transformer and low-noise linear regulation sit in their own shielded compartment, so clean, quiet power reaches the DAC without disturbing the delicate audio circuits. It's the same supply approach LUMIN developed for the U2 transport.

For the network, an SFP socket accepts optical fibre, which isolates the player completely from electrical noise on the rest of your network. The RJ45 port works alongside it as a built-in switch, ready for a NAS or a LUMIN L2. The thick CNC-milled chassis adds rigidity and shielding, and carries the look of LUMIN's high-end family.

How It Sounds

Reviewers describe a player that makes digital sound smooth, continuous, and alive. The Absolute Sound's Tom Martin heard a more analog-like flow to musical tones and a refinement that sets it apart from lower-priced ESS designs. High Fidelity's Wojciech Pacuła found it balances openness with warmth, with a stronger attack and wider soundstage than the T3 before it. Hi-Fi Class praised its rhythm and timing, and how easily it gets your foot tapping.

Streaming and Control

The T3X plays from Roon, TIDAL and TIDAL Connect, Qobuz and Qobuz Connect, Spotify Connect, Amazon Music, AirPlay, Plex, and your own library, with Audirvāna and JPLAY certification. The LUMIN app makes it a pleasure to use, and Leedh Processing lossless volume control lets you run the T3X straight into a power amplifier or active speakers.

Where It Fits

The T3X is the heart of LUMIN's range: above the compact D3, below the S2 and flagship X2. It's ideal for listeners who want a serious, complete digital source in one box, with balanced outputs for any preamp and optical networking for a cleaner system. Add the N1 switch for optical isolation across your whole network, or the L2 to serve your own music library.

Press Recognition

  • The Absolute Sound (December 2025), Tom Martin, video review. Martin called the T3X the benchmark streamer DAC for anyone shopping near or even well above its price, and the lowest-cost way to get nearly all of what digital can do. Watch his full review below.
  • Hi-Fi Class (December 2025), Marek Dyba, 5 stars and Recommended. Dyba praised its energy, timing, and musicality, with more precision and transparency than its predecessors at practically the same price. Read the review at Hi-Fi Class (Polish)
  • Audiotechnique (November 2025), Joey Ho. Ho was captivated by its smooth, natural sound from the first listen and named it the mid-range king of sound quality. Read the review at Audiotechnique (Chinese)
  • Soundstage! Australia (March 2025), Barry Jones. Jones heard music come alive even at low volume, with every genre sounding great, and called the T3X an absolute bargain. Read the review at Soundstage! Australia
  • High Fidelity (January 2025), Wojciech Pacuła. Pacuła found the T3X more expressive, dynamic, and energetic than the T3, with a concert-like sense of presence. Read the review at High Fidelity
