Not Just Another Audience Cable — A Whole New Ballgame
As The Absolute Sound put it after spending time with the frontRow series: these cables aren't just another version of the Au24 — they're a whole new ballgame. Not just for Audience, but for audio cables.
We'd echo that. The Au24 SX is a genuinely great cable — warm, musical, relaxed, and transparent in equal measure. The frontRow keeps all of that and then adds something the SX doesn't quite have: explosive dynamic capability and a leading-edge transient speed that makes the music feel more alive, more present, and more immediate. It's the same house, but with considerably higher ceilings.
What Changed: MORRE Technology
The frontRow's signature advancement over everything below it is MORRE — Musically Optimized Reduction of Resistive Energies.
The concept Audience uses to describe it is illuminating: mechanical rifling in the barrel of a firearm allows a bullet to travel in a more predictable and efficient path. MORRE achieves an analogous refinement in electrical signal transmission — only at the molecular level. By creating directional canals in the pure conductor material, MORRE allows electrons to flow more freely and consistently in a single direction. The result is less random electron dispersion, less signal loss, and a dramatically lower noise floor.
The difference this makes in practice is not subtle. Low-level information that was previously buried emerges with clarity. The space around instruments deepens and becomes more precisely defined. Dynamics — both the large-scale swings and the subtle micro-variations that convey the feel of a live performance — arrive with a conviction that simply wasn't there before.
MORRE is combined with Audience's deep cryogenic treatment, applied after final assembly, for a cable that Audience considers the best they had produced at its introduction.
What It Sounds Like
The frontRow retains everything that makes the Audience house sound distinctive — the naturalness, the ease, the sense that the music is flowing rather than being reproduced. But layered on top of that foundation is a level of precision and dynamic authority that reframes what you thought your system could do.
The noise floor drops noticeably. The soundstage doesn't just widen — it becomes more three-dimensional, with instruments occupying distinct locations in space rather than blending into a two-dimensional plane. Transients arrive faster and decay more cleanly. And through all of it, the tonal character remains honest and uncolored, never edging toward the analytical or the fatiguing.
If the Au24 SX sounds like a very good seat in the concert hall, the frontRow puts you in the front row.
How It Compares to the Au24 SX
This is the question most buyers will reasonably ask, and it deserves a direct answer.
The Au24 SX leans slightly toward the warm and euphonic end of the Audience spectrum — it is a deeply musical cable that rewards extended listening. The frontRow is more precise and dynamically explosive, while still offering the same relaxed transparency, air, and spaciousness that defines Audience's sound. If your system already has excellent tonal balance and you're looking to unlock more dynamic life and low-level resolution, the frontRow is a compelling upgrade. If you're building from scratch and want a single reference cable with a more forgiving character, the Au24 SX remains exceptional.
Both are available at Tweek Geek for comparison — we're happy to talk through which makes more sense for your system.
