Lumin P2
LUMIN P2 Network Music Hub
The Definitive All-in-One — Flagship Engineering, Complete Flexibility
The P1 Mini established that a single device could serve as streamer, DAC, and preamplifier without meaningful compromise in any role. The P2 takes that idea and brings it to a fully uncompromised level — flagship-tier DAC chips, Lundahl output transformers from the X-series, dual-toroidal internal power supply, nine inputs including both balanced and unbalanced analogue, three HDMI inputs with ARC, optical fibre networking, and the femto clock system that has defined LUMIN's high-end digital performance since the X1.
LUMIN describes it plainly: in pure streaming ability, the P2 is second only to the X2. That is not modest positioning. The X2 is LUMIN's flagship reference player with their custom discrete DAC, external dual-toroidal PSU, and solid billet CNC chassis. The P2 brings everything below that level — in a single chassis that also handles every other audio source in your system.
What Separates the P2 from the P1 Mini
The P1 Mini and P2 share the same hub philosophy. The differences are meaningful at every level.
Dual ES9038PRO DACs in true mono mode. The P1 Mini uses the ES9028Pro. The P2 steps up to dual ES9038PRO SABRE chips — ESS's top-tier 32-bit, 8-channel reference DAC — with one chip dedicated to each channel in true mono operation. This is the most advanced SABRE implementation in the LUMIN range below the X2's custom discrete DAC. Each channel has its own dedicated DAC with full hardware precision and processing headroom, maximising channel separation and dynamic range.
Lundahl LL7401 output transformers. The P2 uses the same dual Lundahl LL7401 output transformers found in the X2 and X1 flagship players. Lundahl transformers have been a cornerstone of every LUMIN flagship, providing maximum signal isolation and integrity between the DAC stage and the analogue output. The result is the characteristically analogue quality of the LUMIN flagship sound — warmth, naturalness, and spatial coherence — brought into the hub architecture.
Internal dual-toroidal power supply. The P2's generous chassis accommodates an internal dual-toroidal linear power supply — the same topology as the X2's external PSU, now integrated within the single chassis. Separate digital and analogue power rails with low-noise linear regulation provide the high-current, isolated foundation required to maintain signal integrity across all nine inputs.
Nine inputs. The P1 Mini has five inputs. The P2 has nine: USB (DSD512, PCM384), AES/EBU, optical TOSLINK, SPDIF RCA, three HDMI 2.0 inputs, RCA unbalanced analogue, and XLR balanced analogue. The addition of AES/EBU, a third HDMI input, and balanced analogue input makes the P2 substantially more capable as a system hub for complex analogue and digital source configurations.
Fully balanced analogue input. The P1 Mini has only an RCA analogue input. The P2 adds an XLR balanced analogue input — allowing direct connection of balanced sources such as reel-to-reel tape decks, balanced phono preamplifiers, or balanced DACs without conversion adapters.
Larger, heavier chassis. At 350 mm × 380 mm × 107 mm and 12 kg, the P2 is substantially more substantial than the P1 Mini. The increased chassis volume accommodates the dual-toroidal power supply and more complex input architecture while providing the structural rigidity and electromagnetic shielding that the more advanced electronics require.
Three Roles — One Device
As a streaming DAC. The P2's ES9038PRO DAC stage, femto clock system, optical fibre networking, dual-toroidal power supply, and Leedh Processing volume control make it a world-class streaming DAC in its own right — second only to the X2 in LUMIN's estimation.
As a hi-fi hub. Nine inputs accommodate every source — streaming network, USB computer audio, CD transport via AES/EBU or coaxial, turntable via a phono preamplifier into the balanced or unbalanced analogue input, tape deck, and any HDMI sources. A power amplifier connected to the P2's XLR or RCA outputs turns it into a complete preamplifier with volume control, input switching, and full Leedh Processing lossless attenuation.
As a two-channel TV system. Three HDMI 2.0 inputs accept sources directly — connected devices pass 4K video through to the TV, while the PCM audio is routed through the P2's DAC stage and out to the main speakers. HDMI ARC brings the TV's own audio sources back through the same connection, with CEC volume and mute control from the TV remote. A complete two-channel home theatre hub without an AV receiver.
The Perfect Partnership
The P2 is designed to work particularly well with the LUMIN Amp in a direct-drive configuration. The LUMIN Amp's 200 kΩ balanced input impedance accepts the P2's balanced output directly — no preamplifier required. Leedh Processing handles volume control losslessly. The P2 manages all nine sources through the LUMIN app. The result is a complete, extraordinarily high-performance system in two chassis — streaming player and amplifier — with no additional boxes.
The Full LUMIN Ecosystem
The P2 supports every major streaming service — TIDAL, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz, Qobuz Connect, Amazon Music Unlimited, Spotify Connect, Roon Ready, Audirvāna, JPLAY, AirPlay, KKBox, QQMusic, Plex, MQA, and TuneIn Radio. The LUMIN app provides full control from iOS, Android, and Mac, with high-resolution artwork, playlist management, and seamless switching between all nine inputs. The included Austrian acrylic and zinc remote handles input selection, volume, and playlist navigation — and is fully Roon Ready.
Leedh Processing lossless volume control applies to all inputs. LUMIN's programme of continuous development ensures ongoing firmware updates at no cost.
