Wireworld Silver Eclipse 10 Interconnect

The Silver Eclipse has long been one of Wireworld's most recommended cables, the point in the range where resolution, tone, and value meet. Series 10 raises it again, and The Absolute Sound named it a Product of the Year. For a high-end system that wants more detail and life while staying well below solid silver pricing, this is where we'd start.

Silver's detail, copper's warmth, and an award-winning balance between them.

The Design

The conductors are OCC-7N copper clad in silver. OCC stands for Ohno Continuous Casting, which grows each strand as a nearly continuous crystal, and 7N means 99.99999% pure. The copper core brings body and warmth; the silver surface carries fine detail with ease. It's a hybrid that reviewers have found gets the best of both.

Those conductors are woven in Wireworld's patented Quad DNA Helix geometry, four helically twisted groups per polarity, with twice the strand groups of the Silver Eclipse 8. Wireworld designs the DNA Helix to cancel interference and keep the signal's energy evenly distributed through the cable. COMPOSILEX 5, Wireworld's own insulation, is engineered to minimize the static noise that insulation itself can create.

The RCA version carries 18 gauge per polarity, with silver-tube RCA plugs and silver-clad OFC contacts. The XLR versions carry 21 gauge per polarity, with silver/copper alloy contacts.

How It Sounds

Neutral, natural, and spacious: the Silver Eclipse 10 nails the fundamentals, and at its price we count it among the strongest values in the category.

Tone sits right where it belongs. Voices and instruments sound like themselves, with a natural ease that draws you into the music.

The stage is where it really shines. We ran it through the same tracks we used with the Grand Activation AN-2000, Bill Callahan's "Drover" and Lady Blackbird's "Fix It," and the first thing we noticed was how the music wrapped around us. Everything opens up. On "Fix It," the piano holds its place, focused dead center, while the ambiance and reverb of the room spread out wide and roll forward toward the listening seat. You get a precise image and an enveloping space at the same time.

The midrange steps a little closer to you, too, so singers and lead instruments arrive with extra immediacy and presence, like moving up a few rows.

The Silver Eclipse 10 wraps the music around you.

Shopping at this price, you're likely also weighing the Grand Activation AN-2000. Both are neutral and natural; the difference is perspective. The Silver Eclipse 10 surrounds you with a wide, enveloping stage and a closer, more immediate midrange. The AN-2000 keeps the performance anchored between the speakers and slightly behind them, building a deep, layered stage around a dense, holographic center. If you want the music spread out and all around you, choose the Wireworld. If you love depth and a rock-solid center image, choose the AN-2000.

Connections

  • RCA to RCA, single-ended (SEI)
  • XLR to XLR, balanced (SBI)
  • RCA to XLR (SEI-RX) and XLR to RCA (SEI-XR), for mixed-connection systems
  • RCA to RCA with external ground wire (SEI-G), for turntables and components that need a separate ground

Where It Fits

The Silver Eclipse 10 sits just below the Gold Eclipse 10 in Wireworld's Series 10 interconnects, and above the Eclipse 10. It's the right choice for a high-end system where you want silver's resolution with a natural, full-bodied tone. Pair it with Silver Eclipse 10 speaker cable, which The Absolute Sound reviewed alongside it. Wireworld also makes 5, 6, and 7 channel sets for multichannel systems.

Press Recognition
