How To Install the Steinmusic Signature and Ultra Discs

Super & Ultra Acoustic Discs Mounting & Placement Guide

The Super Acoustic Discs and the Ultra Acoustic Discs improve your room acoustics with very little effort. They are easy to use and blend discreetly into any listening room. Both versions are placed and used in the same way, but they differ in their effect. The Super Acoustic Discs are affordable and highly effective. The Ultra Acoustic Discs are considerably more complex in their construction and therefore more nuanced in their effect. As the application is identical, this guide simply refers to both as Acoustic Discs.

Mounting

The Acoustic Discs are mounted flat against the wall using Nano Tape. Three strips of Nano Tape are included, each 10 cm long and 3 cm wide.– While experimenting: Cut a piece of 2 × 3 cm. The disc holds securely and can be removed again by turning it slowly.

– Final position: For a permanent bond, we recommend 2 to 3 pieces of 5 × 3 cm each.

If there is a piece of furniture at the desired position, the Acoustic Disc can also be placed there. It works well lying flat, although mounted upright on the wall it usually gives a slightly more open sound.

Placement

The following positions have proven themselves in practice. They build on one another, so you can start with a single disc and expand your setup step by step.
One Acoustic Disc Mount the disc centrally on the wall behind the loudspeakers, at a height between 120 and 180 cm. A good starting point is 160 to 170 cm. You will find the right height by listening and adjusting.
The height sets the balance between openness and a substantial, focused sound:
– Higher: more open
– Lower: more substantial

Two Acoustic Discs

A pair of Acoustic Discs noticeably opens up the room for the music. Both are placed on the wall behind the loudspeakers, each about 30 cm from the side walls. The ideal height is usually between 120 and 160 cm. A good starting point is 130 to 140 cm.

Three Acoustic Discs

Combine positions 1 and 2. This joins the openness of the two outer discs with the focus and presence of the center disc. The two outer discs should always be symmetrical: at the same height and the same distance from the side walls. The height of the center disc may differ.

Our tip: set the height of the outer discs first. Then use the height of the center disc to fine-tune the overall picture.

With these three Acoustic Discs you get a vivid, three-dimensional stage. Three more discs on the rear wall take you all the way into the concert hall.

One disc on the rear wall

Place another disc centrally on the rear wall, mirroring position 1 but higher: about 30 to 40 cm below the ceiling. The exact height is less critical here. If the room layout or furniture limits your options, you can easily adapt to them.

Two discs on the rear wall

Add two more discs on the rear wall, towards the sides. Position them as an exact mirror image of the two outer discs on the front wall.

Congratulations. You have arrived in your personal concert hall!
