Garlubidor Fairyland Amplifier
Garlubidor Fairyland Amplifier
Garlubidor operates under the same parent company as Denafrips — the organization responsible for some of the most respected R2R DAC designs in the world. The Fairyland is their power amplifier, and it brings that same commitment to genuine engineering at an accessible price point to the amplification side of the chain.
The Architecture
Fully balanced Class AB amplifier. Custom Toshiba power transistors — not generic commodity devices but transistors specified and selected for this application. ELNA 10,000uF audio capacitors in the power supply. 210 watts into 4 ohms with 0.002% total harmonic distortion at rated power. These are real numbers from a genuinely engineered amplifier, not marketing specs from a commodity product.
The Natural Pairing
The Fairyland was designed with the Garlubidor Divinity DAC specifically in mind. The Divinity includes a volume control built into its architecture, which means Divinity plus Fairyland is a complete, preamplifier-free system: streamer or transport into the Divinity, volume controlled at the DAC, directly into the Fairyland. Fewer components, fewer cables, purer signal path. We've heard this combination and it performs well above what the combined price would suggest.
Our Take
The Fairyland is a startlingly good performer for its price. We'd put it up against solid-state amplifiers up to $6,000 in most system contexts. The bass is controlled and fast. The midrange is clean rather than lush. The top end is extended without being aggressive. It's a neutral, high-resolution amplifier that gets out of the way of the music.
Press Recognition
Garlubidor is a newer brand and press coverage is still developing. Our own assessment matches Steve Huff's enthusiastic coverage of the related Divinity DAC — the brand is doing real engineering at prices that make the competition uncomfortable.
