Innuos PerformanceDAC Board
Innuos PerformanceDAC Board
You chose a STREAM1 or STREAM3 for the way it handles your music. Now you want that music going straight to your amplifier, with one less box on the rack and one less cable in the path. The PerformanceDAC Board does exactly that. It installs inside the streamer and gives it a true analog output, so the STREAM becomes a complete digital source.
Streamer and DAC in one box, with one pair of cables to your amp.
The Design
At its heart is a latest-generation AKM DAC chip, timed by high-grade TCXO clocks. TCXOs are temperature-compensated oscillators: they hold their frequency steady as the room and the chassis warm up, and steady timing is what keeps images stable and instruments sounding like themselves.
The digital and analog stages each get their own power supply. Digital circuits create electrical noise simply by working, and the analog output is where that noise would do the most harm. Keeping the two apart from the start lets the analog stage stay quiet. Gold-plated RCA outputs finish the job.
How It Sounds
Hi-Fi IFAs tested a STREAM1 fitted with the PerformanceDAC Board and the LPS1 power supply, and heard a detailed, harmonious presentation that stays out of the music's way. Their summary: modular and musical.
Where It Fits
On the STREAM1, the PerformanceDAC is the top DAC option, and the most direct route to a complete, compact digital front end. Add the LPS1 linear power supply and you have a system reviewers keep singling out.
On the STREAM3, the PerformanceDAC is the value path to built-in conversion. When you want to go further, the PhoenixDAC Board adds dual-mono conversion, OCXO and femto clocking, and balanced XLR outputs. And if you already own a DAC you love, the PhoenixUSB Board is the better choice: it feeds that DAC a regenerated, reclocked USB signal instead.
It also makes a brilliant second-system source. One box, one app, and great sound in the den or office.
