Pure Silver-Coated Conductor | 4-Layer Hoplon Shielding | Air 2 Foam Insulation
Why the NAX?
Your network cable shouldn't be the thing holding your system back.
Most audiophiles spend years refining their DACs, amplifiers, and speakers — only to overlook what's carrying the signal before it even gets there. The AIM NAX was built for exactly this listener: someone who knows the difference between a system that sounds good and one that sounds right.
AIM's flagship Ethernet cable brings together a purpose-built silver-coated conductor, their proprietary Air 2 foam insulation, and a four-layer shielding architecture they call Hoplon. The result is a cable that gets out of the way and lets your music breathe.
Silver Stream Conductor: High-purity OFC copper with a domestically produced pure silver coating. Faster signal transfer, lower distortion.
Air 2 Insulation: Foamed polyethylene that mimics the dielectric properties of air — minimizing signal loss at every frequency.
Hoplon Shielding: Four distinct shielding layers working together to block noise across the entire frequency spectrum.
Asymmetric Drain Wire: Directional grounding design for optimal signal flow — one end grounds, one doesn't. Install it right and hear the difference.
Hoplon: Four Layers of Protection
Noise doesn't care how expensive your gear is. AIM's Hoplon shielding system addresses it at four different levels, each layer targeting a different part of the frequency spectrum.
Pulshut® MU: Absorbs radiated noise from the cable itself and conduction noise from the power supply — quieting the acoustic space.
Aluminum Shield: Targets high-frequency interference. Flexible enough to wrap tightly around twisted pairs without cracking.
Copper Shield: Broad shielding across the full spectrum, with particular strength in the audio band where it counts most for music.
High-Density Copper Braid: Exceptional low-frequency shielding. Combined with the copper shield, it creates an almost impenetrable noise barrier.

What You'll Actually Hear
Faster attack. Deeper staging. More of what's really in the recording.
Moving to the NAX from the already-excellent NA9, audio critic Takashi Iwai noted a measurable improvement in signal-to-noise ratio — along with faster attack and decay, tighter instrument localization, and a more natural sense of depth on orchestral recordings.
"I was able to enjoy a three-dimensional sound without smearing, not just with high-resolution audio sources, but even with CD-quality lossless sources."
Takashi Iwai · Audio Critic
The silver-coated conductor and Air 2 insulation are the key contributors here — together they deliver what Iwai describes as a sense of high speed, with particularly exceptional gradation in the mid-to-low frequencies.
Technical Specifications
- Connector - RJ45 (8P8C)
- Connector Housing - 360° die-cast nickel-plated zinc
- Standard - ANSI/TIA/EIA-568-B · IEC 60603-7-5

A Note on Installation Direction
The NAX uses an asymmetric drain wire design — one end is grounded, one isn't. This means the cable is directional. Install it in the correct orientation for optimal performance. AIM marks the cable to make this straightforward.
Source end - Grounded
Component end - Not grounded
Available Lengths - The NAX is available in eight lengths to fit any system layout — from a short NAS-to-switch hop to a longer cross-room run.
