Output Module for STREAM1 and STREAM3

The PerformanceDAC Board is the mid-tier integrated DAC option for the STREAM platform — a step above the Standard DAC Board in both clocking and resolution, and the right choice for anyone who wants capable analogue output from their STREAM without adding a separate DAC to the chain.

It uses a current-generation AKM DAC chip clocked by high-grade TCXO oscillators, with fully independent power supplies for the digital and analogue stages. Keeping those supplies separate matters: the digital circuitry generates noise by nature of its operation, and letting it share a rail with the analogue output stage introduces contamination at exactly the wrong place. The PerformanceDAC Board treats them as distinct circuits from the start.

Output is via gold-plated RCA connectors. It handles PCM up to 32bit/768kHz and Native DSD up to DSD512 — the full resolution envelope of the STREAM platform. Plug directly into your integrated amplifier or preamplifier and you're done. No USB cable to the DAC, no additional box on the shelf.

Who It's For

This board makes the most sense in two situations. First, a listener who wants a clean, capable analogue output from their STREAM and doesn't already own a dedicated DAC — or who doesn't want to invest in one at this stage. Second, a second system where simplicity matters more than ultimate resolution. If your primary system has a high-end external DAC, connect the STREAM via the PhoenixUSB Board there and use the PerformanceDAC Board where you need analogue output without the fuss.

For those who want XLR output or the highest-performance integrated DAC option, the PhoenixDAC Board is the step up. The PerformanceDAC Board is the practical, well-engineered middle ground.
