Audience AdeptResponse aR2p

The aR2p is the adeptResponse built to skip the power cord: it plugs directly into your wall outlet and gives you two conditioned, filtered outlets in a compact polycarbonate case. Positive Feedback's John Acton lived with the aR2p family for years and called the aR2p-T4 impossible to live without.

Audience's conditioning, plugged straight into the wall.

The Design

The aR2p applies Audience's adeptResponse approach in plug-in form. It's hand-built with premium high-current components throughout, uses a magnetic circuit breaker as its power switch, and has its entire circuit cryogenically treated. Audience designs it like the twelve-outlet aR12 and warrants it for ten years. Its two outlets share a common filter.

Choosing a Version

The standard aR2p uses Auricap XO+ polypropylene film capacitors, oxygen-free copper internal wiring, hospital-grade outlets, a rhodium-plated copper wall plug, and a magnetic circuit breaker. The aR2p-T3 swaps the film capacitors for premium Aura-TR Teflon capacitors. The aR2p-T4 adds a Wattgate rhodium-plated copper wall plug, Audience's Hidden Treasure duplex outlet with RF-blocking crystals, and Au24 SX OCC internal cabling.

How It Sounds

John Acton, who used aR2p conditioners in his system for years, heard the aR2p-T4 bring more layering of instruments, a panoramic, wide-open soundstage, and crystalline transients, with the dynamics adeptResponse conditioners are known for fully intact.

Where It Fits

Use the aR2p as the main conditioner for a simple system, such as an integrated amplifier and a source, on a second system, or to feed a power strip that carries a whole system. Its two outlets share one filter, so for isolation between components, step up to the aR2, aR6, or aR12, which filter every outlet individually. Its body covers both openings of a standard duplex wall plate, so plan the outlet location. Measuring 3.56 by 6.31 by 3.56 inches and weighing just under two pounds, it's the smallest conditioner Audience makes.
