We've had the Topline X8 Power cord now for over a year, and it is indeed a superb addition for very high end audio systems. This is the classic Steinmusic sound, and feeling. The word Beauty comes to mind when listening to music with the X8 on our Merason DAC-1 MK2, or any DAC (or component) for that matter. We found the X8 to have a huge impact on the depths and heights of the music. The soundstage exploded in all directions, as if we added even more Stein Harmonizers to our listening environment. Layering, overtones and harmonics were so effortlessly separate with a very live quality to them. The dynamic envelope around instruments and voices expanded as well. There is more, much more that the X8 does sonically to help the music to convey to us the feeling within it, and behind it's creation.

About the X8

There are 8 individually braided copper conductors wrapped in what Steinmusic calls "Mercerized" cotton. Cotton has a very low dialectric constant, which I am sure had an influence on the decision to use it in their design. The connectors are made from phenolic, or resin coated paper. It's extremely hard and scratch resistant, but also non-metallic and non-magnetic. The contacts are rhodium plated copper. The cord has a fairly large overall diameter, but is surprisingly supple, most likely due to the cotton covering the conductors.
