Innuos
Innuos STREAM3 Music Streamer and Server
We'll be honest: when the STREAM3 first arrived, after time with the ZEN Next-Gen and ZENith Next-Gen, we expected a lesser machine. A month with the STREAM3 and PhoenixDAC in-house changed our minds. It's a different kind of machine, with its own power supply architecture, its own connectivity strengths, and a flexibility neither ZEN model offers.
Pair it with a world-class DAC, or add Innuos's PhoenixDAC board and it becomes a complete, elegant one-box digital source.
Reference-grade streaming, configured exactly for your system.
The ARC6-CX Power Supply
The STREAM3's power supply was designed in collaboration with Dr Sean Jacobs, one of the most respected names in audio power supply design. A 300VA toroidal transformer behind medical-grade AC filtering feeds the ARC6-CX module, which combines active rectification, 132,000uF of Mundorf capacitance, and CX regulation on a single board. The result is very low impedance and exceptionally clean power for every circuit in the machine.
The Platform
A 13th Gen Intel quad-core processor and 8GB of industrial-grade DDR5 memory keep everything quick and responsive. The operating system runs from a dedicated power-loss-protected SSD with the real-time kernel developed for the ZEN Next-Gen series. A 10mm CNC-machined aluminium chassis provides vibration damping and shielding, and a 4mm grounding port lets you take noise reduction further.
Choose Your Output
USB output comes standard. One bay accepts the output board that best suits your system, and you can change it as your system changes:
- PhoenixDAC Board: dual-mono AKM DACs, OCXO and FemtoClocks, independent power, balanced XLR and RCA outputs. Turns the STREAM3 into a complete high-end source.
- PerformanceDAC Board: AKM DAC with TCXO clocks and gold-plated RCA outputs.
- PhoenixUSB Board: regenerated, reclocked USB with a 3ppb OCXO clock.
- PhoenixI2S Board: direct I2S over an HDMI-type socket, eight pin configurations, support to DSD1024.
- S/PDIF Board: coaxial, optical, and AES outputs.
Add 2TB, 4TB, or 8TB of internal SSD storage, or your own, and the STREAM3 becomes a full music server. Plug in a USB optical drive and it rips your CDs.
How It Sounds
Reviewers agree. Hi-Fi Pig's Stuart Smith heard a clean, detailed sound that stays easy to listen to for hours, and gave it an Editor's Choice. Fairaudio found it agile and dynamic, high in resolution yet never analytical or fatiguing. Hi-Fi Knights praised its refined sound and called its modular design genuinely future-proof.
Where It Fits
The STREAM3 tops the STREAM series, above the compact STREAM1. Choose it over the ZEN Next-Gen when you'd like an internal DAC option or a remote in the box; choose the ZEN Next-Gen when server duties and up to 16TB of storage come first. For the network, add the NET3 switch, built to match the STREAM3.
