QSA 15 Amp Jitter Power Conditioner

The Design

QSA says its treatment, which it calls MMMAT and MAT, makes electron flow through the metal more efficient. QSA keeps the process to itself, so we judge it the way Stereo Times' Clement Perry says he does: by listening. The adapter looks like the cheater plug from a hardware store, and the treatment is inside it. Because it affects whatever plugs into that outlet, it also works on components that have no fuses to replace, which Perry singled out as its big advantage.

Our Experience

It took about 30 seconds to realize these may be the best tweak we've encountered, and the QSA fuses set that bar very high. Alongside the fuses' effect we heard more low-level detail, better phase detail (harmonics close in frequency separate instead of blurring), and a wider soundstage. In our experience they've surpassed the fuses as a system-wide improvement, possibly because they affect everything downstream on that outlet at once. The effect adds to other QSA products, and we've found they combine well.

Where It Fits

Use it at the wall or on your conditioner's outlet, for a source, DAC, or amplifier. Levels run from Yellow through Crystal Gold Red, and our impressions of the ladder are the same as across the QSA range: Yellow is the entry point, Red is where the character becomes unmistakable, and Black/Red steps up image density and resolution. QSA adapters are made to order, so they are special order and non-returnable; a trade-up program credits what you've paid toward a higher level.
