Innuos Next-Gen FLOW (Q4 2026)

The USB connection between a streamer or server and a DAC is where a great deal can go wrong. USB was designed for data transfer, not audio. The signal it carries contains timing information that consumer USB implementations handle imprecisely, and the electrical connection between source and DAC creates a path for noise to travel in both directions. A reclocker sits in that path, receives the USB signal, strips out its timing, and regenerates it from a precision local clock before passing it downstream. Done properly, the effect on the DAC's performance is significant — it receives a signal with lower jitter and cleaner power than the source could provide directly.

The Next-Gen FLOW is Innuos's implementation of that approach at the Next-Gen level. It is derived directly from the NazaréFLOW, which sits at the top of Innuos's lineup and has established a reference point in this product category. The Next-Gen FLOW brings the NazaréFLOW's architecture and design philosophy to a wider audience, paired with the same power supply used in the ZENith Next-Gen.

The clock

The same 3ppb OCXO used in the NET3 is at the heart of the Next-Gen FLOW. Three parts per billion accuracy, oven-controlled for temperature stability, with a dedicated clocking architecture that keeps the oscillator's supply and circuit isolated from the rest of the electronics. In a reclocker, the clock is the entire product — everything else is infrastructure to support it. The 3ppb specification is exceptional. Consumer USB implementations that present jitter figures at all are typically measured in nanoseconds; the OCXO here operates in a fundamentally different class.

The power supply

A 300VA multifilar transformer forms the foundation, fed through ARC6 active rectification and CX power regulation — the same power supply architecture as the Next-Gen NET and the ZENith Next-Gen. Multifilar winding means multiple conductors wound together in the transformer, which improves coupling between primary and secondary windings and reduces leakage inductance. The result is a cleaner, lower-impedance supply than a conventional transformer of equivalent rating. CX regulation provides the final stage of noise reduction before the sensitive clock and processing circuits. The power supply in the Next-Gen FLOW is not a concession to cost — it is the same specification as what Innuos considers appropriate for their reference-level streaming hardware.

The modular output architecture

This is the feature that makes the Next-Gen FLOW genuinely unusual. Most reclockers offer a standard menu of digital outputs — USB, coaxial, AES/EBU, optical. The Next-Gen FLOW adds a modular output system that supports native proprietary interfaces for specific DAC brands. Current and announced modules include dedicated connectivity for MSB Technology, CH Precision, EMM Labs (Optilink), and Soulution (HDMI I2S). Standard output modules are also available for DACs that use conventional interfaces.

The significance of native protocol modules is real. Proprietary DAC interfaces — MSB's Pro ISL, CH Precision's own digital input, EMM Labs' Optilink — are designed to outperform generic S/PDIF or USB connections by eliminating the conversion steps that introduce noise and jitter. When the reclocker can speak the DAC's native language rather than a translated version, the entire digital handoff operates at a higher level. For owners of these DACs, the Next-Gen FLOW is not merely a reclocker — it is the optimal digital source interface for their specific hardware.

The chassis

CNC-machined aluminium throughout, matching the physical language of the ZEN Next-Gen, ZENith Next-Gen, and Next-Gen NET. The chassis isolates internal components from electromagnetic interference and mechanical vibration — relevant for a device whose entire purpose is preserving timing precision at the parts-per-billion level. Vibration affects crystal oscillators; the chassis design is part of the clock performance specification, not separate from it.

The Next-Gen FLOW is designed as the digital output stage for the ZEN Next-Gen and ZENith Next-Gen, and is described by Innuos as an exceptional companion for STATEMENT owners.
