Unison Research Unico 150

The Unico 150 is a powerful hybrid integrated amplifier built from only three stages: two tube gain stages and one MOSFET power stage. Unison Research says it developed the amplifier on audiophile and scientific criteria at the same time, which led to a product different both from its earlier solid-state amplifiers and from any other amplifier on the market.

The Design

The input and gain stage works in pure Class A with ECC83 and 6H30 tubes. The output stage is a thermally stable Class AB design with complementary Hexfets, four pairs per channel. Unison Research lists the global feedback factor as 0 dB, with 16 dB of local feedback, and the output impedance as below 0.4 ohm, resistive at all audio frequencies. It delivers 150 W per channel into 8 ohms and 220 W per channel into 4 ohms.

Connections

The Unico 150 has six line inputs: three unbalanced, two balanced, and one unbalanced bypass input. There's a tape output and a subwoofer output with its own volume control. The output connections are 4 + 4 terminals for bi-wiring.
