Hapa Audio Haiku XLR Interconnects
The Haiku XLR took a year longer to develop than the Haiku RCA. That's not a trivial distinction — the RCA version set a standard in transparency that we weren't certain could be matched in a balanced implementation. Balanced cables have to manage the geometry of a differential signal path in ways that a single-ended design doesn't, and doing that while maintaining the Aerogel dielectric architecture required engineering that didn't exist until Hapa solved it.
The Design
Aerogel dielectric — the same patented material and process as the Haiku RCA. UPOCC pure silver conductors. The conductors are woven in a noise-canceling geometry specifically developed for the XLR architecture — not adapted from the RCA design but built from the ground up for balanced operation. The geometry is proprietary and required the year of additional development time.
99.8% air content in the Aerogel means the conductor is suspended in the most acoustically transparent material possible. The noise-canceling geometry handles the differential signal path without the capacitance and mechanical coupling that conventional balanced cable constructions introduce.
Our Experience
We've spent time with the Haiku XLR in our reference system. The transparency is at a level where the cable genuinely disappears — you hear the system and the recording, not the cable. The balance is neutral in a way that reveals what's upstream of it, which means it works equally well with tube and solid-state equipment. What we call "a portal into the musical event" is not hyperbole. It's a description of what happens when distortion is reduced far enough.
Press Recognition
The Hapa Audio Haiku line has been covered by Part Time Audiophile, where the Haiku RCA received exceptional marks. The XLR, being a more recent release, has less press coverage but has been discussed on AudiophileStyle and by owners who upgraded from the RCA version.
