Innuos Next-Gen FLOW I2S Module

Inside every DAC, music reaches the converter chip as I2S, with separate lines for the data and the clocks that time it. A USB or S/PDIF input has to receive the signal and rebuild that I2S stream first. DACs with an HDMI I2S input, Soulution's among them, can accept I2S directly. The I2S Module lets the Innuos Next-Gen FLOW deliver its reclocked signal in that form, straight to the heart of the DAC.

The Design

The Next-Gen FLOW is a dedicated USB master reclocker. It takes the USB signal from your server, discards its timing, and rebuilds it against a reference-grade 3ppb OCXO, the same clock Innuos uses in its flagship NazaréFLOW. Its power supply pairs a 300VA transformer with ARC6 active rectification, and CX regulators feed both the clock and the module section, so the output module works from clean, dedicated power.

The I2S Module is the final link. Because I2S carries its clocks alongside the music data, the FLOW's precise timing travels all the way to the converter, and the DAC's own receiver stage steps aside.

How It Sounds

The Next-Gen FLOW brings the reclocking concept of Innuos's flagship NazaréFLOW to the ZEN Next-Gen series, and Innuos describes the result as greater focus, realism, and accuracy. We'll share our own impressions as soon as we've spent time with it.

Where It Fits

The I2S Module is the most broadly useful FLOW module: it serves Soulution DACs and the many other designs with HDMI I2S inputs. The FLOW works with any USB source and is designed to match the ZEN Next-Gen, ZENith Next-Gen, and STATEMENT. Pair it with the Next-Gen NET switch and the whole chain, from network to DAC, is built for the same goal.

HDMI I2S pin assignments vary between DAC makers, so we confirm your DAC's pinout with Innuos before you order. If you own an MSB, CH Precision, or EMM Labs DAC, their dedicated FLOW modules connect through each brand's native interface instead.
