Lumin N1 Network Switch
Lumin N1 Network Switch
The network infrastructure carrying data to your streamer gets less attention than it deserves. The N1 is Lumin's answer to that — a 10-port switch built specifically around the premise that clean data delivery matters, designed with the same low-noise obsession that defines their player lineup.
Why a Dedicated Audiophile Switch
The standard consumer switch runs on a switching power supply. That supply generates noise. That noise rides along copper Ethernet connections into your streamer, your NAS, everything connected to it. The N1 replaces that noise source with an internal toroidal linear power supply, housed in a shielded compartment within the chassis. Oversized relative to what the switch actually needs — the same deliberate choice Lumin made in the U2X and T3X. No external brick. No switching noise from a cheap internal regulator.
Isolation and Connectivity
Four SFP fibre ports provide complete galvanic isolation for your most sensitive equipment. Fibre carries no electrical signal — there's no common ground, no conducted noise path. If you're running a Lumin streamer and want it fully isolated from the rest of your network, that's how you do it. Six copper RJ45 ports handle everything else: NAS, router uplink, secondary components, general network traffic you don't want mixing with your audio gear.
Clock Input
The N1 includes a 10MHz BNC input for synchronization with an external master clock — primarily intended for owners of the Lumin U2X, which has a matching clock output. System-wide timing coherence: switch and streamer on the same reference rather than independent internal clocks. Out of the box, the N1 runs on its own high-stability internal clock and is fully functional without anything connected to the BNC.
Press Recognition
The Lumin N1 has been reviewed by Hi-Fi+ and covered on AudiophileStyle and What's Best Forum. Reviewers consistently noted that the improvement in system performance was more significant than the price would suggest, particularly in systems already using fibre Ethernet connections.
