Lumin U2X
Lumin U2X
The U2X is a pure streaming transport. No DAC, no compromise in that direction — just an engineering commitment to delivering your music's digital signal with maximum integrity to whatever DAC you've chosen to trust. If you've invested in a serious DAC, the U2X is how you make sure it receives everything the recording has to offer.
The Chassis
Both the U2X and its external power supply are machined from solid aluminum billet — the same construction method used in Lumin's flagship X series. The result is a chassis of exceptional rigidity and mass that Hi-Fi+ described as feeling like chunky slabs hewn from solid metal. Resonance doesn't get a foothold. The external power supply unit, also CNC-machined, houses dual toroidal transformers with a low-noise linear regulator. Separating the power supply from the digital circuitry is one of the highest-return things you can do for digital audio purity.
The Isolated USB Output
One of the U2X's most significant engineering additions is its newly developed isolated USB output circuit — a dedicated port with its own isolated architecture that shields your DAC from noise contamination at the connection point. Two additional USB ports remain available for music storage and accessories. This is how you connect to a great DAC without polluting it.
10MHz Clock I/O
The U2X is the first Lumin model with 10MHz clock I/O. Dual 10MHz clock outputs allow the U2X to serve as master clock for your entire digital chain — switch, DAC, anything with a clock input. For a multi-component digital system, this is a meaningful capability. It also accepts an external master clock input for those who prefer a dedicated reference.
Press Recognition
The Lumin U2X was reviewed by Hi-Fi+, where Alan Sircom gave it exceptional marks, calling it among the finest digital transports available and noting that the isolated USB output and clock I/O represented genuine advances over the U2 Mini. The Absolute Sound and Stereophile also covered it with consistently strong findings.
